Rent a car is very useful if you are planning to explore the beaches and scenery along the corridor and between the cities of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, if you are thinking about this option is a good idea to choose a all-terrain vehicle. Within the cities can move easily and safely on foot or by taxis.

Taxicabs

Local taxi service at caboThe taxicabs are clean and are always available in the lobby of all hotels, airports and circulating in the streets of the city, do not use taximeter because they manage to predetermined rates, which are available at any hotel. We suggest you always ask the driver the fare before getting a taxi. The taxi service operates 24 hours a day. At the airport a collective taxi (van small to 9 passengers) to Cabo San Lucas, it costs about $ 12.00 USD per person. This service is shared with other passengers and hence, the vehicle makes several stops along the way from the airport to the hotel. A private taxi to Cabo San Lucas to the airport costs $ 55 to $ 90 USD. We suggest you check the rates encompassed in the lobby of your hotel and always ask the driver the fare before getting a taxi.

Bus service:

Bus service in CaboThere is no local bus service between downtown and the beach but it is available to be transported between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. The service begins in San Jose at 5:00 AM and in Cabo San Lucas begins at 5:20 a.m. and runs until 9:30 or 10:00 PM.

After landing at San José del Cabo International Airport, you will claim your baggage and clear customs.

You will then need to gain access to some form of transportation not only to your hotel but to get you around Los Cabos. Most travelers are reporting a very frustrating and even infuriating experience of getting through the terminal and to their transportation.

Many visitors complain that they cannot differentiate between the legitimate authorities and the representatives of local business investers who have their own interests in mind rather than that of the visitor when offering them transportation.

Official bus stops:

There are official bus stops with seats and shade, but in reality it is common that the buses stop to pick up people at any point on its route along the road. The stops are spaced about every 20 minutes. They will usually stop, if they see you in time. It is safer and easier to walk to the designated bus stops. The busses only run on the main highway and pass each stop (approximately) every twenty minutes. The fare is around 16 pesos (about $1.50 U.S.) between the two towns, less if your only going part of the way. It is a good idea to have changes for the fares.
